Welcoming World Art Day

World Art Day is a day to promote the development, proliferation, and appreciation for art!

Art is a driving force for innovation. It nurtures creativity and is a powerful tool for shedding light on cultural hegemony. We’ve learned to appreciate art for both its visual aesthetic and its power to influence society. In essence, art is at the very heart of everything we do—from how we prepare a meal and decorate the house, to how we express ourselves when we dress and speak.

World Art Day on April 15 coincides with Leonardo Da Vinci’s Birthday, a master of multiple mediums and one of the world’s most notable visionaries. In celebration of this day, we look at some of the projects that help further the international creative community, unite artists, and make a difference right here under the .ART umbrella. We hope they inspire you and fuel your imagination!

South-South.art

Part auction, part online gallery, South South is a platform that centers the Global South, focusing on artists in emerging economies. The platform debuted on February 23 with a live 22-lot auction and another 49-lot timed auction online to kick off a week of online viewing rooms showcasing artwork. At its core, South South is building a community of artists, gallerists, curators, and patrons who have all had a deep interest in both the decentralization of art production and the richness and depth of artistic expression in the Global South.

Therme.art

Therme Group creates the world’s most advanced resorts that combine health, nature, technology, and culture with a goal to promote well-being for all. Using therme.art, the company supports the art and architecture community through a program dedicated to the realization of large-scale, long-term art projects for the Therme Group’s esteemed thermal baths. The program works with internationally renowned artists, architects, and leading voices to create space for idea exchange and promote dialogue. Attendees of these panels include speakers such as Artistic Director of Serpentine Galleries, Hans Ulrich Obrist; Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh; and Global Director of Art Basel, Marc Spiegler, just to name a few.

Grants.art

The Sevens Foundation is a project that focuses on curating, educating, and funding artists’ first step into creative self-sovereignty through NFTs. Founded by Tim Kang, the foundation is an international committee and non-profit organization with a mission to spotlight emerging artists and share their creativity with the world.
