Enable two-step sign in on your Hover account

In today’s digital age, we’ve all heard it before. Incidents of emails being hacked, massive database leaks, and cybersecurity threats are all too common. A strong password is the first line of defense against third-party threats, but relying on a password alone can leave your account vulnerable. Two-factor authentication (or 2FA), also known as two-step sign in, adds an extra layer of security that keeps cybercriminals out while your account and personal information remain safe.
Why enable 2FA?
Your domain name is an important asset and hijacking can happen, especially if you own a high-profile domain or high-traffic website. Two-step sign in is a simple and effective way to boost the security of your Hover account. It requires you to enter a unique six-digit authentication code that is sent to your phone in addition to your usual Hover username and password whenever you sign in to your account. Protect yourself and your intellectual property by simply enabling 2FA.
How does 2FA work?
Hover supports two methods of two-step sign in, SMS message or mobile app. To take advantage of two-step sign in, you must have a mobile device that can receive text messages orrun one of the supported mobile authenticator apps.
- SMS message—This method uses text messaging to send a six-digit security code to your mobile phone when you enter your username and password. You need to retrieve this code and enter it where prompted to complete the sign-in process.
- Mobile app—This method uses anauthenticator apps on your mobile phone to generate a six-digit code. When you enter your username and password to sign in to your Hover account, a prompt will appear where you can enter that code.
Any popular authenticator app for your smartphone that supports a time-based one-time password (TOTP), like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, will work with Hover. Most are free to download.
